None. Whispered has no user accounts, no analytics, no telemetry, no crash reporting service and no advertising. We do not receive, store or have access to anything you record, transcribe or save. Speech recognition and speaker diarization run entirely on your device through Apple's CoreML framework.
Audio captured from the microphone is processed on your device in real time. It is held in memory for processing and is not written to any server. Microphone permission is used solely for live transcription and can be withdrawn at any time in iOS Settings.
Transcripts and the session details you add (topic, location, participants, notes) are stored only in the app's own storage on your device. Exporting or sharing a transcript sends it only where you choose through the standard iOS share sheet; we receive no copy. Deleting the app removes all stored transcripts.
Whispered is not an offline-only app. It makes three kinds of network request. None of them contains your audio, your transcripts or any other personal data.
a) Model downloads. The app downloads the speech models (speech recognition, speaker diarization, voice activity detection) from Hugging Face (huggingface.co), a service of Hugging Face, Inc., 20 Jay Street, Suite 612, Brooklyn, NY 11201, USA. As with any web request, Hugging Face may process your device's IP address. Nothing else is transmitted. The app occasionally checks whether newer model versions are available; that too is a plain download request. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in retrieving the models the app needs); the transfer to the USA relies on Art. 49(1)(b) GDPR (necessary to provide the app's core function). b) Podcast feeds (optional). If you enter a podcast RSS URL, the app requests that URL from the host you named in order to list the episodes.
c) Podcast episodes (optional). If you select an episode, the app downloads that audio file from the podcast host, transcribes it on your device and deletes the file afterwards.
Requests b) and c) go to the podcast host you chose. We do not operate those servers and receive nothing from them. Their privacy policies apply to their processing.
Whispered does not send your data to any third-party AI service, cloud transcription service or analytics provider. The speech models are openly licensed model files executed locally; using them involves no request to their authors or to any inference service. No third-party SDKs for tracking or advertising are used.
Whispered is not directed at children and collects no data from anyone.
Because the app transmits no personal data to us, we hold no data about you that we could disclose, correct or delete. You nevertheless have the rights under the GDPR to access (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and objection (Art. 21). You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority. Which authority is competent depends on where you live; a list is available from the European Data Protection Board.
